Established alongside the founding of B.K. Birla College in 1972, our Central Library has grown into a comprehensive Knowledge Resource Centre that stands at the heart of our academic community. Housed in a dedicated 6000 sq. ft. facility, the library boasts an impressive collection of over 80,000 books and 114 periodicals across various disciplines, supplemented by a rich array of digital resources including Inflibnet NLIST, DELNET, J-GATE, and India Business Insights.
With automation powered by Libsys10 and our LSDiscovery Services platform, we offer seamless access to both our physical and electronic collections. Our digital services are further enhanced through subscriptions to resources like Knimbus digital library and other open access materials, ensuring that our users have comprehensive access to the information they need.
The library is a hub of daily activity, serving over 500 patrons with an average of 250 transactions each day. Facilities like our Green reading room and collaborative learning spaces provide optimal environments for study and interaction. Additionally, we cater to the special needs of our community, offering assistive technologies for partially sighted and blind students, as well as tailored services for physically disabled individuals.
We are responsive to our users' needs, actively incorporating their feedback through a suggestion register located at the entrance. Moreover, our Book-Port initiative—a mobile pop-up library—along with regular exhibitions and book sales, exemplifies our commitment to promoting literacy and engagement within the campus.
Recently, we have embraced mobile technology, introducing information services via WhatsApp to further enhance accessibility and convenience. Our departmental libraries and book-bank schemes for needy students underscore our dedication to supporting all members of our college community.
